Getting there and away
Phuket
There are many daily national and international flights to and from Phuket, several budget airlines fly this route. Phuket is also easy to get to by bus from most places in Thailand, the transportation system in Thailand is very good.
Chumphon
You can get to Chumphon in the following ways: there are daily flights from Bangkok to Ranong, from there it's a 2 hour drive to Chumphon. Trains go from Bangkok to Chumphon several times a day, travelling time is approximately 8 hours (make sure you get the fastest train and don't get stuck with the slow one that stops often). The fast night train is a good one to get, they have comfortable sleeping places in first class. Buses go from Bangkok and other cities to Chumphon several times a day, from Bangkok it takes 7 to 8 hours. If you are in Koh Samui or Koh Phang Ngan it's easy to catch a boat to Chumphon.
Hua Hin
Hua Hin is about a 3 hour drive from Bangkok, by train and bus it takes a little longer. There are buses going at 45 minute intervals between Hua Hin and Bangkok. Taxis and vans can be hired at Bangkok airport to take you to Hua Hin directly, the price is normally around 2,500 baht and the price is about the same to go back from Hua Hin to Bangkok. A minivan leaves Victory Monument every 30 minutes for Hua Hin at a cost of 160 baht. |
